Chinese Hill (Malay: "Bukit Cina") is largest and oldest Chinese graveyard outside of China itself with over 12,500 graves. Without this, it also a hillside of historical significance in the capital of Malaysian state of Malacca, Malacca Town. Emperor Yung Lo sent his envoy, Admiral Cheng Ho to establish commercial relations with Malacca during 1949.
According to the local tradition, Princess Hang Li Po was sent to be married to the sultan of Malacca, Sultan Mansor Shah to seal relations between the two countries. With the return of gift, Chinese Hill become their residence.Princess Hang Li Po bring along Chinese settlers included 500 handmaidens. The Ming Bride set up home on Bukit Cina along with her vast entourage and the hill has been a Chinese-dominated area ever since. Later on, the two adjoining hills became the burial ground for Chinese merchants.
The King’s Well which is next to the Poh San Teng Temple) (also mistakenly known as Sam Po Kong Temple) at the foot of the hill (2.1966°N 102.2562°E), was constructed by Hang Li Po's followers for her personal use and an important water supply for the inhabitants of Bukit Cina.
Today, the well become a reputation of a wishing well.
