Description
Nihonbashi (日本橋, literally "Japan Bridge") is a business city district of Chūō,Tokyo. The bridge has linked two sides of the Nihonbashi River since the early Edo Period.

Formerly it was wooden bridge with complete in 1603. The current Nihonbashi was reconstructed in stone and it designed by Tsumaki Yorinaka was constructed of stone on a steel frame dates from 1911.

The current Nihonbashi district has enjoyed much commercial prosperity over the centuries.The area has flourished with bustling shops lining the streets and shipping canals.

Get There and Around

Nihonbashi Station on the Ginza, Tozai and Asakusa Subway Lines or Mitsukoshimae Station on the Hanzomon and Ginza Subway Lines bring you into the very center of the Nihonbashi district. Nihonbashi can also be accessed in a 5-10 minute walk from the Nihonbashi Exit of Tokyo Station.
